Terms of use
The rules governing use of the platform by buyers, sellers and affiliate creators in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
1. Purpose and acceptance
These terms govern access to and use of the AfriTrade marketplace. By creating an account, placing an order or publishing a product listing, you accept all of these terms without reservation, along with the community guidelines.
2. Role of the platform
AfriTrade provides technical infrastructure: catalog, mobile money payments, logistics and arbitration. The sale is concluded directly between seller and buyer; the platform is not the seller of the listed items unless a product page explicitly says so.
3. Accounts and access
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide (name, phone, address, mobile money details) and for keeping your credentials confidential. A seller account requires verifying the owner identity and the order preparation address.
4. Orders, prices and taxes
Prices are shown in US dollars and converted to Congolese francs at the rate applied at payment time. Amounts include VAT at the legal rate (16%), shown as a separate line on the order and invoice. An order is final only after payment confirmation or acceptance of cash on delivery.
5. Payment
Payments are made by mobile money (Airtel Money, Orange Money, M-Pesa) or cash on delivery where offered. Any payment reference you share must match the order: an unmatched transaction can delay parcel preparation.
6. Delivery and pickup
Stated times are estimates and depend on the partner carrier and the served area. For relay-point pickup, the parcel is held seven days; after that it is returned to the seller and return fees may be withheld.
7. Seller obligations
Sellers warrant that listed products are lawful, compliant and available, meet stated preparation times, and pay the platform commission on each delivered sale. Counterfeit, dangerous or prohibited products lead to listing removal and account suspension.
8. Returns, refunds and disputes
Buyers can open a return or dispute within seven days of receipt. The team arbitrates between the parties and can order a refund, a replacement or a reasoned rejection. Refunds are credited to the buyer wallet or mobile money account.
9. Liability
The platform cannot be held liable for delays due to force majeure, telecom or mobile money outages, or damage resulting from use that violates these terms.
10. Intellectual property
Platform trademarks, logos and content remain the property of their owners. Sellers warrant they hold the rights to the images and descriptions they publish and authorize their distribution on the platform and its promotional channels.
11. Personal data
Collected data is used to process orders, secure payments and improve the service, in line with the privacy policyand applicable Congolese law. You can request access, correction or deletion of your data from your privacy settings.
12. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the law of the marketplace’s country of establishment. Unresolved disputes go to the competent courts of that jurisdiction. These terms may change: the applicable version is the one published on the order date.
